ISTANBUL: A man in Turkey jumped from a balcony in a panic during the recent earthquake, and the dramatic moment was captured on video, which has since gone viral on social media.

The footage shows the man leaping from a balcony in Istanbul as the earthquake struck, reflecting the intense fear that gripped residents.

Across various parts of the city, scenes of chaos and panic unfolded as people rushed out of their homes screaming in fear.

According to Istanbul authorities, 151 people were injured in the 6.2-magnitude quake. Many of the injuries occurred as people attempted to escape by jumping from windows and balconies. It was one of the strongest earthquakes to hit the city in recent years.

The widely circulated video shows the man landing on the roof of a parked car below, injuring his leg in the process.

He can later be seen limping away from the scene, highlighting the desperate measures some took in a bid to survive.

A powerful 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit Istanbul on Wednesaday, prompting thousands of people to evacuate buildings.

Interior Minister Yerlikaya stated that emergency teams are actively operating throughout the province, ensuring a swift response to any unforeseen events. 

According to reports, the quake occurred off the coast of the Silivri municipality at a depth of 6.92 kilometers.
