Video of Mufti Qavi enjoying private concert sparks another controversy

Controversial cleric Mufti Qavi has once again become the centre of controversy after a video apparently showing him enjoying a private concert with a woman has gone viral on social media. 

In a viral video, Mufti Qavi, donning a white Qamiz Shalwar and Jinnah cap, could be seen enjoying the lyrics of the trending song "Mera Dil Ye Pukary Ajaa", singing by a female vocalist, with a cup of tea.

The female singer, in a 1:45 minute TikTok clip, was spotted sitting beside Qavi on a stage.

However, the viral video sparked anger among social media users, who voiced to remove the word 'Mufti' from the scholar's name.

Here's how social media reacted to the video:

Religious figure first came into the spotlight in 2016 when social media star Qandeel Baloch met him, and some inappropriate photos were posted on the internet. 

At the time Mufti Qavi was serving as a member of the Ruet Hilal Committee (A moon sighting committee) and a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which had eliminated his membership from both entities. 

In the same year, another controversy surrounding Qavi arose when TikTok star Hareem Shah posted a video of her slapping a controversial cleric after the former allegedly engaged in a vulgar conversation with the latter.

Qavi again made headlines in 2019 when he was filmed showering currency notes on a female singer, Nadia Hashmi, in a wedding ceremony.
