'Beyond Banking, Sowing Change’: HBL Chairman on the future of Pakistan’s agriculture sector

Speaking at the Pakistan Business Council’s 4th edition of its two-day ‘Dialogue on the Economy 2025’, Sultan Ali Allana, Chairman HBL, emphasised that, "agriculture is not just an economic sector, it is the foundation of our nation’s stability, our food security, and our ability to grow with dignity.”

"If we get agriculture right, we don’t just protect the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, we build a more resilient and prosperous Pakistan on top of it," he said.

At the end, Mr. Allana stated that ‘Beyond Banking, Sowing Change’ must be more than a slogan — it must become a strategy, a national movement that commits Pakistan to aligning agricultural policy, public and private investment, and community efforts in pursuit of higher yields, smarter farming, water conservation, and long-term food security.”

Through HBL Group’s various initiatives in the agriculture space, the Bank is operationalising this vision by connecting farmers to agronomy, mechanization, warehousing, advisory, and markets across the agri-value chain.
