Cabinet okays appointment of judge to act against gas theft

The caretaker federal cabinet has approved the appointment of a judge to take action against gas theft.
The federal cabinet approved appointing Jahangir Ahmed as Judge of Gas Utility Court for three years. The court was activated for commercial, industrial and domestic gas theft cases.
Moreover, the federal cabinet appointed Sadaf Yusuf as the judge of Special Court Narcotics Control Karachi.
Sadaf Yusuf was appointed Special Court Narcotics Control Judge for three years.
The caretaker government launched crackdown on power and theft, last year to encourage recoveries.
In the recent action, another 485 connections were disconnected in Punjab, KP and Islamabad; Rs 4.14 million fine was imposed.
During the ongoing crackdown against gas pilferers, SNGPL continued raids in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad, disconnecting another 485 connections; Rs 4.14 million fine imposed
In Lahore, the regional team disconnected 25 connections on illegal use of gas while another 24 on use of compressor and also imposed fine of Rs 0.08 million against gas theft cases .
In Rawalpindi the team disconnected 183 connection on illegal use of gas while another 4 on use of compressor and amount of Rs 0.11 million against gas theft cases.
During the operation in Islamabad team disconnected three connections on illegal use of gas.In Multan 4 connections were disconnected on illegal use of gas while another 36 on use of compressor.The team also booked an amount of Rs 0.45 million have been booked against gas cases and also lodged one FIR against gas pilferes.
In Peshawar and Karak,the company disconnected 66 connections on account of direct use of gas and illegal use of gas and amount of Rs 2.33 million against gas theft cases.
