The US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Donald Lu, has said that Pakistan is making progress in its economic recovery, which will benefit all the countrymen.
In an interview with a local private media channel on Thursday, Lu expressed optimism that Pakistan's economic reforms would help the country recover from its financial crisis.
"We are greatly encouraged by the economic recovery Pakistan is undergoing. The implemented plans and reforms were not easy, but they were crucial for long-term stability," he said.
Lu mentioned that he had the opportunity to meet with Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, who explained all the plans for reforms "clearly" to him.
Regarding security and terrorism, Lu reaffirmed US support for Pakistan in its fight against militants.
"We are working alongside Pakistan’s military and government in their fight against terrorism."
Donald Lu emphasised that the United States is committed to the success of Pakistan and wants to see it succeed.
Earlier, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) issued a statement indicating that Pakistan's implementation of policies for economic stability resulted in a 2.4 percent increase in its gross domestic production and a decline in its inflation rate to a single digit.
The fund mentioned that the country would now need to restore its structure of policymaking.
