Karachi's power consumers are expected to experience massive increase in electricity rates, potentially rising by up to Rs18.57 per unit due to fuel cost adjustments (FCA) for seven months.
K-Electric has submitted an application to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for an increase in monthly adjustment for July 2023 to March 2024.
According to Dawn News, the company has also requested power regulatory body for a reduction of Rs0.29 per unit for 2 months.
NEPRA is scheduled to conduct a public hearing on the KE petition on May 9.
It should be noted that the government had increased the price of electricity for the citizens by Rs 2.75 paisa per unit at the beginning of March, while a few days after the decision, the price of power tariff was further increased by Rs 4.92 per unit.
