The federal government will present the budget for fiscal year 2026-27 in the National Assembly on June 12, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry announced on Tuesday.

He said Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will present the budget before the lower house of parliament.

The announcement reflects another revision in the budget schedule. Earlier, the government had moved the presentation to June 10 after postponing it from June 5 amid ongoing consultations with coalition partners over proposed fiscal measures.

According to parliamentary sources, the delay was linked to objections from allied parties on certain budget proposals, prompting further negotiations to build consensus.

Sources also said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a key coalition partner, has assured the government of its support for the budget. The assurance was reportedly conveyed during a recent meeting between a PPP delegation led by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Presidency in Islamabad.

During the meeting, President Zardari stressed prioritising public welfare, provincial rights and economic stability in the upcoming fiscal plan.

Finance Minister Aurangzeb has previously stated that the budget is being prepared in coordination with coalition partners and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), with a focus on tax reforms and revenue collection measures.
