Govt keeps petrol, diesel prices unchanged

The federal government on Monday decided to keep petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices unchanged for August 11.

Petrol will remain available at Rs327.62 per litre, while the price of HSD will stay at Rs380.86 per litre.

The government is currently charging Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs100 per litre on HSD.

According to a Petroleum Division notification, the existing prices will remain effective from August 11.

The current HSD price is significantly lower than its peak of Rs520.35 per litre recorded on April 3. Its price had risen from Rs281 per litre after the US-Iran conflict began on February 28.

Petrol had also reached a record Rs458.41 per litre on April 3 after starting to climb from Rs266 per litre in the first week of March.
