Five-year-old child’s severed hand successfully reattached at Rawalpindi hospital

A successful surgery to reattach a severed limb has been performed at Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi.

Doctors at the hospital successfully reattached the severed hand of a five-year-old child from Jhelum. The child’s hand had been completely severed in an accident involving a toka (a sharp cutting tool).

A medical team led by Dr. Tayyab and Dr. Ambreen at Holy Family Hospital successfully performed the complex replantation surgery.

According to the doctors, the blood vessels and veins were restored through microsurgical vascular techniques.

Following the successful procedure, blood circulation was successfully restored to the reattached hand.

The doctors further stated that replantation surgery in young children is particularly complex and requires highly specialized microsurgical expertise.
