KARACHI: The Commissioner of Karachi announced a new milk price following discussions with the Dairy Farmers Association.

The newly issued notification sets the retail price of milk at Rs 220 per litre, reflecting an increase of Rs 20 per litre. Additionally, the wholesale price has been set at Rs 205 per litre, while the price for dairy farmers is now Rs 195 per litre.

It's worth noting that dairy farmers have been pushing for a price hike in dairy products despite a recent decrease in petroleum prices.

This price adjustment comes after an agreement was reached between Commissioner Karachi and the dairy farmers.

As per the agreement, dairy farmers are required to sell milk at the official price, and any noncompliance will result in action being taken.

"The milk sellers will not seek another price increase until December 31. Dairy farmers are also required to display purchase and sale rates at all points. The quality of milk from dairy farms to retailers must be maintained," the agreement stipulates.
