WhatsApp is rolling out several artificial intelligence-powered features aimed at improving communication, user convenience, and digital security.

The features are being gradually introduced as part of Meta’s broader push to integrate AI tools across its platforms.

According to Meta, the latest updates include five core AI functionalities:

1. AI Message Summaries: This tool allows users to receive short summaries of unread messages, eliminating the need to scroll through long chats. The summaries are generated using Meta’s Private Processing system, which maintains end-to-end encryption and ensures data privacy.

2. Quick Recap for Multiple Chats: Expanding on the summary feature, WhatsApp is testing a "Quick Recap" option that offers condensed updates from up to five chats simultaneously. This function is currently in limited testing but is expected to become widely available in future updates.

3. Spam and Scam Detection Alerts: Using machine learning models trained on millions of reports, WhatsApp now automatically flags suspicious content, issues in-app warnings, and limits mass forwarding. These measures aim to reduce disinformation and fraudulent schemes, which have reportedly increased in countries like Pakistan. The system works without reading actual message content and maintains user privacy.

4. Smart Writing Suggestions: WhatsApp is testing AI-based writing assistance tools that help users compose messages. These include grammar correction, tone adjustments, and content suggestions. The tool is designed to help with professional communication and faster replies, while messages remain encrypted.

5. Voice Interaction with Meta AI: A voice-based AI assistant is also in limited rollout. It enables users to ask questions and receive spoken responses within the app, functioning similarly to tools like ChatGPT or Google Gemini.

Meta has not announced a definitive timeline for the full rollout of these features, but testing is underway in selected regions
