The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has okayed a reduction of mere Rs0.86 per unit in August’s fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for power consumers.
The decission was taken during a public hearing of NEPRA.
During a public hearing on the matter, NEPRA decided on the reduction, which is higher than the Rs0.57 per unit decrease initially requested by the Central Power Purchasing Agency. The hearing took place on September 26, 2024.
NEPRA stated that this adjustment is Rs0.49 per unit less than the FCA charged in July, offering consumers a greater reduction in their October bills.
Consumers who have already received their bills will receive this relief in November.
The adjustment will be applicable to all consumers of distribution companies (DISCOs), except for lifeline users, prepaid consumers, electric vehicle charging stations, and K-Electric customers.
This measure aims to alleviate the financial burden on electricity consumers amid rising energy costs, providing some relief during a challenging economic conditions.
