Overseas Pakistanis send $3.63bn in remittances in July

Overseas Pakistanis sent $3.631 billion in remittances to the country in July 2026, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday.

The inflow was 4.5% higher than the previous month and increased by 13% compared with July last year.

Remittances reached $41.6 billion during July-June of fiscal year 2025-26, showing a 9% increase from $38.3 billion recorded in the previous fiscal year.

Remittances are an important source of foreign exchange for Pakistan and help support the country's external account. They also contribute to economic activity and provide additional income to households that depend on funds sent by family members working abroad.

The government has continued to promote the use of formal channels for sending remittances by offering various incentives, with the aim of maintaining growth and supporting economic stability.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday welcomed the $3.6 billion remittance inflow in July and praised overseas Pakistanis for their contribution to the country's economy.

“The consistent and positive contribution of overseas Pakistanis to the stability and growth of the national economy is commendable,” the prime minister said, describing them as an important part of Pakistan's economic mainstream.
