Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) recorded total sales of 1.5 million tons in October, maintaining a year-on-year stability but marking a 9% month-on-month increase, driven primarily by higher diesel consumption during the harvest season.
According to Topline Securities’ analyst Maisha Sohail, the monthly growth was attributed to the revival in high-speed diesel (HSD) demand following the end of monsoon rains and flooding across various regions of the country.
During the first four months of fiscal year 2026, total OMC sales reached 5.4 million tons, reflecting a 4% increase compared to 5.2 million tons in the same period last year.
In October, petrol sales declined by 2% year-on-year and 4% month-on-month to 657,000 tons. However, during the first four months of FY26, cumulative petrol sales rose 4% to 2.628 million tons.
High-speed diesel sales grew 4% year-on-year and 21% month-on-month to 714,000 tons in October. In the first four months of FY26, total diesel sales reached 2.336 million tons, an 11% increase from the corresponding period last year.
Conversely, furnace oil sales dropped 52% year-on-year to just 28,000 tons in October, though a 108% month-on-month jump was recorded due to temporary demand from power generation companies. Over the first four months of FY26, total furnace oil sales stood at 75,000 tons, down 72% year-on-year.
The report added that the key furnace oil sellers during October were Cynergy, Pakistan State Oil (PSO), and Pearl Parco.
