Gold prices in the domestic market hit a new all-time high on Friday in line with a strong rally in the international market.
The price of gold reached a historic high of Rs456,900 per tola by climbing by Rs14,100 during the day, according to data released by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).
The rate for 10 grams of gold also jumped by Rs12,089, settling at Rs391,718. On Thursday, gold prices witnessed an increase of Rs1,900 per tola, clocking in at Rs442,800.
On the global stage, gold prices continued their upward march, hitting fresh records. The international price stood at $4,358 per ounce — including a $20 premium — after gaining $141, as reported by APGJSA. US gold futures for December delivery advanced 1.7% to $4,375.50. The metal has now surged roughly 8.6% this week, marking its strongest weekly performance since September 2008 and setting new records each trading session.
Silver prices in the domestic market also hit a new peak, increasing by Rs167 to reach Rs5,504 per tola.
Globally, gold’s rally is being driven by renewed investor demand amid concerns over the health of US regional banks, ongoing trade tensions, and rising expectations of interest rate cuts — factors that continue to boost the appeal of the safe-haven asset.
