Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the completion of the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project may take another two years due to persistent utility relocation challenges.

He assured that within the next four to five months, the government would resolve the difficulties currently faced by the public because of the project.

He noted that utility transfer issues remain the biggest hurdle, adding that a major institution like K-Electric should also work to resolve its problems.

Sharjeel Memon stated that issues faced by citizens along University Road would be resolved by January or February.

He criticized the former caretaker government, claiming it had not laid “a single brick” for the project in its nine months of tenure.

The minister emphasized that the Transport Department is performing effectively and improvements are visible in multiple areas.

He stressed that the negative perception surrounding the BRT project was not the fault of the current government.

He further said that project contractors and other relevant organizations had been brought together for coordination, while the Karachi Commissioner has been instructed to remain in daily contact regarding the Red Line BRT.

“The Sindh government is not sitting idle; we are taking steps every day,” he reaffirmed.
