In a shocking medical case, doctors successfully removed over 6,000 small stones from a 70-year-old man's gallbladder during a recent operation.
According to Indian media, the patient's pain had worsened over time, and he was often relieved by minor medication. However, when the pain intensified, he decided to go for a check-up at a private hospital in Rajasthan's Kota.
The ultrasound revealed that the patient had several stones in his gallbladder, which had doubled in size.
Doctors immediately decided to perform surgery, and during the operation, they were surprised to find over 6,000 stones in the patient's gallbladder.
The medics expressed astonishment at the large number of gallstones, stating that "it could have caused serious damage and even led to cancer if left untreated."
The operation took only 30 minutes, but the hospital staff took at least two and a half hours to count the stones, the local media said.
The patient was discharged the next day and is now fully healthy.
Doctors believe the exorbitant number of stones in the gallbladder was caused due to various factors, including genetics, fast food consumption, and weight loss.
