A surgeon in Lahore successfully removed a hair clip from an 18-months-old girl's stomach using non-surgical methods, it emerged on Tuesday.

The endoscopic procedure was conducted at Lahore General Hospital by Dr Hassan Salman, resulting in a successful removal of the hair clip.

The minor girl's family resides in Chungi Amar Sadhu. She accidentally swallowed a hair clip while playing. As her condition deteriorated, her parents immediately took her to the hospital.

According to Dr Hassan Salman, the patient had trouble breathing. Further examination through medical tests revealed the presence of a hair clip in her stomach.

He performed an endoscopy and successfully removed the hair clip without the need for surgery.

Endoscopy is a procedure that involves inserting a flexible tube equipped with a light and camera into the body to examine the digestive tract.

Doctors can also use endoscopes to insert surgical instruments and perform various procedures.

In 2022, the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology successfully performed a groundbreaking procedure on a 60-year-old patient, the first of its kind in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, that did not involve any incisions.

The procedure was performed using the (transcatheter aortic valve implantation) TAVI technique. Despite the risks, the patient recovered successfully following the operation.
