Arez Ahmed defends wife Hiba Bukhari against criticism during pregnancy

Actor Arez Ahmed clapped back at critics who slammed his wife, Hiba Bukhari, for her appearance at the Hum TV Awards during her pregnancy, questioning the double standards society holds for women.

The couple recently appeared on a show, addressing the controversies that emerged during Hiba’s pregnancy.

Speaking about the issue sparked by Nadia Khan, who publicly announced their pregnancy on TV without their consent, Arez revealed that several people in the industry were already aware but had refrained from making it public. He added that while Nadia Khan also knew, she still chose to disclose their personal news.

Hiba shared how being in the limelight during her pregnancy affected her, saying that public criticism of her appearance was hurtful.

Defending his wife, Arez responded to the backlash, saying, "Why can't she show her baby bump?" He questioned societal expectations, asking, "What options do women have? Should they stop going outside during pregnancy or avoid taking pictures?"

Calling out the double standards surrounding women, he emphasised that pregnancy is a natural process and that women should not be forced to live their lives according to societal pressures.

Hiba added that she wanted to enjoy this phase of her life before welcoming their baby, saying, "It was our last vacation together," and noting that their focus will now shift entirely to their child.
