Wife of famed Pakistani artist Mansoor Ahmed Rahi has registered an FIR against her son for stealing her husband’s paintings worth over Rs1 billion, police said.

The theft was brought to the notice of the police by the wife of Rahi on September 19, almost eight months after the incident occurred.

Shalimar police registered a case under Section 38 0 of the PPC against the artist’s son and his friends.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the son and six friends visited the house, while the son took his parents out for dinner, his friends remained behind.

Upon returning, the son distracted his parents upstairs, but Ms. Rahi heard noises from the basement. Investigating, she discovered the paintings removed from frames and rolled up.

The son and friends allegedly loaded the artworks into a vehicle in front of Ms. Rahi.

“The theft deeply shocked Mansoor Rahi, leading to his ill health,” the FIR reads. Artist Mansoor Rahi was deeply shocked and fell ill after learning about his son’s act, she said in a police report.

At last, Mansoor Rahi passed away on May 12.
