Asif Raza Mir praises Sajal Aly for working with him on new project despite past family ties

Veteran actor Asif Raza Mir has opened up about working with his former daughter-in-law, actress Sajal Aly, in an upcoming drama series, saying that both of them displayed “courage” in choosing to collaborate despite their past family ties.

In a recent interview, Mir was asked whether he had any reservations about sharing the screen with Sajal following her separation from his son, actor Ahad Raza Mir. Responding candidly, the seasoned actor said he viewed the project from a professional lens.

Mir recalled that the casting director Nadeem Baig asked him if he would be comfortable working with Sajal, who was cast to play his daughter in the series.

In his reponse, Mir said, “We are going to work as actors, there is no animosity and as we say life moves on. Nadeem said she is going to play your daughter. I said, fine. We finished the whole show, it was fun.”

He emphasised that mature individuals can rise above personal history and maintain professionalism.

“I think we are mature people. This has to be learned and it has to be understood by people that it's not the end of the world. A relationship ending doesn't signify the end of everything, life goes on. We are in the same profession and we have to work together and why not?”

Speaking about the public’s reaction to Sajal and Ahad’s divorce, Mir acknowledged that many fans were disappointed.

“People didn’t want this to happen. There could be many reasons behind it, but at the end of the day, they are both human beings.”

Praising Sajal’s professionalism and emotional strength, Mir added, “She also showed the courage to work with me, and to some extent, I too had to muster up courage. It sends a message to everyone that life doesn’t stop.”'

Ahad Raza Mir made his debut in the Pakistani entertainment industry alongside the iconic actress Sajal Aly in Yaqeen Ka Safar in 2017.

The duo also impressed audiences with their remarkable performances in the period drama Aangan in 2018.

Their on-screen chemistry captured the hearts of many, and fans were overjoyed when the couple tied the knot in 2020.

However, to the disappointment of their thousands of fans, the couple parted ways in 2022, keeping their reasons private and refraining from discussing their relationship in the media.
