Actor Azekah Daniel  pened up about facing discrimination in the entertainment industry due to her religion, highlighting how bias is deeply ingrained in showbiz.

The Cheek actor recently appeared on a program where she expressed her disappointment, stating that while one would expect the field of entertainment to be free from such prejudices, the reality is quite different.

Azekah remarked that the showbiz industry is "generally considered a liberal space, but in truth, it is only liberal in name."

She further revealed that non-Muslim actors  subjected to religious discrimination by well-known industry figures in front of the whole staff, yet no one spoke up against it.

The Balaa actor stated that she never raised her voice about the discrimination she endured, fearing that doing so would result in her being sidelined from the industry.

Azekah also shed light on another troubling trend in showbiz, where actors attempt to steal roles from their co-stars.

She asserted that religious discrimination has only worsened over time, and people are unable to speak about it openly.

During the show, Azekah also claimed that many refuse to work with fellow actors who have fewer Instagram followers, prioritising social media presence over talent.

She emphasised that this culture has shifted focus away from acting, but she takes pride in the fact that she has never engaged in such behavior.
