Karim Benzema shared a glimpse of his Umrah journey from Makkah.
The former Real Madrid striker shared the picture on social media wearing ihram, alongside a simple message: “Alhamdulillah for everything...”
The phrase has particular significance given Benzema’s recent career developments.
When his departure from Saudi club Al Hilal was confirmed on August 31, the French forward ended his farewell message to the club with the exact same words: “Alhamdulillah for everything.”
Benzema, 38, is currently without a club after mutually agreeing with Al Hilal to terminate his contract. His spell with the Saudi side lasted only around six months.
Despite its short duration, Benzema enjoyed a productive run, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists in 16 appearances across all competitions. He also helped Al Hilal win the King’s Cup.
The striker has been linked with a return to Lyon, where he began his professional career. Lyon sporting director Matthieu Louis Jean confirmed that the club had been contacted through an intermediary during the summer, but said Benzema’s contractual situation prevented the move from progressing.
Benzema has also received an invitation to visit Dubai, adding another possibility to his next chapter after leaving Al Hilal.
For now, however, his latest update came not from a football pitch, but from Makkah, where he performed Umrah.
