Bollywood’s newest release, Param Sundari, featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, has gained significant popularity on social mediabut not without controversy. Netizens in Pakistan have alleged that an item song in the movie closely mirrors the title track of the hit Pakistani drama Mannat Murad.

The song, picturized on Janhvi Kapoor in a red sari and Sidharth Malhotra in a black traditional outfit, is sung by Vishal Dadlani, Parvati Meenakashi, and Sachin–Jigar, with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

However, many social media users have pointed out that the composition bears striking similarities to Laal Suit, the opening track of Mannat Murad, which starred Iqra Aziz and Talha Chahour.

In Mannat Murad, Laal Suit was a key highlight of the drama’s wedding celebrations, and fans have accused Bollywood of copying the melody and tune for the item number Dander.

Social media reactions have been swift, with users criticising Bollywood for plagiarising Pakistani music while simultaneously promoting animosity toward Pakistani artists.
