British Rapper Central Cee converts to Islam

British rapper and singer Central Cee, whose real name is Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, has embraced Islam, the artist confirmed during a live stream.
While speaking to fans online, the 27-year-old rapper announced that he had recited the Kalima Shahada and officially converted to Islam. He also revealed that he has changed his first name from Oakley to Aqeel.
“I’ve just changed my name and recited the Kalima. I’m a Muslim now,” he said during the live broadcast, where he was also seen reciting the declaration of faith.
Friends present during the live stream congratulated the rapper, though he did not share further details about his spiritual journey.
Central Cee, widely known for his relatable lyrics and distinctive sound, has built a massive global fan base through his music. Prior to this announcement, he had never spoken openly about his religious beliefs. However, fans had previously speculated after noticing Arabic captions in some of his social media posts.
Born in London on 4 June 1998, Central C began his music career in 2014 and later rose to prominence as one of the leading figures in British drill and rap music.
In 2024, he was named the most-streamed British rapper worldwide, with his songs garnering billions of plays across various platforms.
