Pakistani actor Faysal Quraishi has raised concerns about Karachi's declining green spaces, drawing attention to the city's growing environmental challenges through a post on social media.
Sharing an aerial photograph of Karachi on his Instagram story, Quraishi highlighted the scarcity of trees and questioned how extensive urban development has reshaped the city over time.
He remarked that Karachi appears to be turning into a "concrete jungle," with natural green areas increasingly replaced by roads and buildings. Stressing the importance of environmental conservation, he encouraged citizens to plant more trees and noted that the effects of environmental degradation are becoming more evident.
His comments come at a time when Karachi is grappling with intense heat, worsening air pollution, and other climate-related issues that experts frequently associate with rapid urbanisation and the reduction of green cover.
A highly accomplished figure in Pakistan's entertainment industry, Quraishi has received more than 20 nationally recognised awards and has appeared in over 200 television and media projects.
He first rose to fame with his lead role as Boota in the television drama Boota from Toba Tek Singh in 1999. Over the years, he has also hosted several popular television programs, including Muskurati Morning with Faisal Qureshi (2010–2014), Salam Zindagi (2016–2019), Jeet Ka Dum, and the current game show Khush Raho Pakistan.
Quraishi began his acting career as a child artist, appearing in dramas such as Emergency Ward and Andhera Ujala. His breakthrough performance in Boota from Toba Tek Singh made him an overnight sensation.
He later earned widespread acclaim for portraying the lead character in Bashar Momin, which became the first Pakistani drama serial to be broadcast on Indian television.
