A British rap duo won praise at Glastonbury Festival after chanting “death to the IDF” during their performance on Saturday, referring to the Israeli military's brutalities in Gaza.
The moment was met with cheers from the crowd, many of whom waved Palestinian flags in a visible show of solidarity.
The London-based group, made up of vocalist/guitarist Bobby Vylan and drummer Bobbie Vylan, repeated the chant multiple times, with audience members joining in.
The performance took place ahead of a scheduled appearance by Northern Irish hip-hop act Kneecap, known for their outspoken support of Palestinian rights. The chants have triggered political controversy in the UK.
Bob Vylan’s set was broadcast live by the BBC, including the uncensored chants and lyrics. However, the BBC later blocked Kneecap’s performance from airing, citing concerns over its editorial standards.
Renowned for blending punk, grime, and hip-hop with hard-hitting political and social commentary, Bob Vylan often addresses themes such as institutional racism, gentrification, and mental health in Britain’s Black communities.
Their appearance at Glastonbury coincided with a broader surge in pro-Palestinian sentiment at the festival, reflecting growing international concern over the Israeli military’s actions in Gaza.
