Renowned fashion designer Maria B expressed her concerns about young women entering the Pakistani modelling industry. She highlighted a lack of "ethical environments" for them to work in.

In a recent interview, Maria B pointed out that societal limitations often prevent girls from pursuing modelling careers. "Many girls can't get permission from their families," she explained.

The fashion icon went on to say, “I think girls should not join modelling."

"There are definitely decent and family-oriented photographers who create a comfortable atmosphere for girls, but unfortunately, there are also disturbing incidents that occur in the industry, affecting both male and female models," she continued.

Maria B also delved into the financial side of the modelling industry.

She maintained that the scarcity of female models in Pakistan, allows them to charge higher rates compared to foreign models.

"There is more competition abroad due to the abundance of models," she stated. "In Pakistan, with fewer models available, their rates tend to be higher."

She explained that foreign models might charge $500 per day based on working hours, while Pakistani models often base their fees on the number of outfits they wear per shoot.

Prior to Maria, several figures within the showbiz have spoken out against sexual exploitation in the entertainment industry.

Recently, acclaimed writer Bee Gul shed light on this pervasive issue, saying, “It happens everywhere I know. Women are mentally prepared for it. They know that at some point, they will have to trade off their body or beauty.”

She asserted that women from educated backgrounds are treated differently. Those who are ambitious for their careers but have no support system are especially vulnerable to exploitation.

Popular PR specialist Rana Asif, a former contestant on the reality show "Tamasha," also shared a personal experience. During an interview, he revealed that a major brand owner had requested him “to arrange two models," which he firmly refused.
