Renowned actress Mehwish Hayat has spoken out against a recent trend on social media in which several actors have been imitating television host and actor Sahir Lodhi in parody-style videos.
These clips, mimicking the style of Indian paparazzi, went viral, originally shared on Sahir Lodhi’s own Instagram, where he appeared to be casually caught on camera, though the filming is seemingly staged.
While fans have been posting light-hearted comments on these videos, the trend took a new turn when fellow actors, including Yasir Nawaz, Faisal Qureshi, and Ijaz Aslam, joined in by posting their own humorous imitations of Lodhi’s distinctive mannerisms.
Yasir Nawaz is said to have started the wave, which quickly gained traction among industry peers.
As several celebrtiies tried to take a dig at Sahir's videos, actress Mehwish Hayat took to Instagram to voice her disapproval, emphasising the importance of maintaining dignity and respect within the entertainment industry.
“Sahir Lodhi is someone who’s work consistently, shown up with the passion, and built a name in an industry that’s not easy to survive in,” she wrote on an Instagram story.
She added, “It’s really not fair how some people make fun of him, often forgetting that he’s a human being with feelings, just like the rest of us.”

Mehwish Hayat went on to stress that while people are entitled to dislike someone’s style, it does not justify public ridicule or mockery.
She urged her fellow artists and the public to adopt a more respectful and kind approach, underlining the need for empathy in a world increasingly dominated by social media trends.
