Renowned actor Hamza Ali Abbasi, known for sharing his insights on religion, stated that all forms of art are permitted in Islam, provided they do not violate the moral standards set by the faith.

In a recent interview, Hamza discussed how some art forms are often seen as contrary to religion and discouraged. However, he emphasised that modern Islamic interpretations stress the importance of adhering to respectable boundaries in artistic expression.

The Alif actor revealed that he follows the interpretation of Islamic jurisprudence by renowned religious scholar Javed Ahmed Ghamidi.

According to this interpretation, he stated, "All forms of art are permitted by Islam unless they violate certain ethical boundaries."

"My top priority is to follow these ethical boundaries," he said, reflecting on how he applies this interpretation in his own career as an artist. He emphasised that this priority should be followed by any artist involved in any form of art.

"For me, it's about being conscious of how I will answer for my actions. I choose roles that fall within the ethical boundaries set by Allah," he explained.

However, the Jawani Phir Nahi Ani star lamented that many things in the world are normalised, even though they violate ethical boundaries.

He acknowledged that, despite the awareness of moral standards, one might sometimes stray from them unconsciously. "I remember the verse from Allah where He warns us to avoid major sins, as He will forgive the smaller ones," he said.

Hamza revealed that he has become a practicing Muslim since 2017 and ensures that every aspect of his acting career aligns with these ethical boundaries.

Sharing an example of how he follows these principles, Hamza reflected on his role in Maula Jatt. He said he made sure that violence was not glorified in the film, highlighting that the message conveyed by his work is of utmost importance when considering any project.
