It will be an honour to play Arshad Nadeem in biopic: Omer Shehzad

Renowned model and actor Omer Shehzad expressed his enthusiasm for portraying javelin champion Arshad Nadeem in his biopic.

Nadeem made history by winning Pakistan's first Olympic gold medal in four decades at the Paris Olympics 2024.

The star athlete shattered the Olympic record with a monumental 92.97-metre throw in the men's javelin event. His gold medal marks the nation's first-ever individual and track-and-field Olympic medal.

Nadeem became a national hero, with people showering him with praise for his tireless dedication to competing at the Summer Olympics despite lacking world-class training facilities.

The javelin thrower comes from a humble family in Mian Channu, a rural city in Punjab. His father is a labourer, and their village lacks basic amenities like electricity, gas, and sports facilities.

Despite these challenges, Nadeem's extraordinary journey captured hearts, and his fans began calling for a biopic on his life story.

Recently, Omer Shehzad responded to a fan's comment, saying that he would be suitable for portraying Arshad Nadeem in a biopic.

“It will be an honour,” Omer Shehzad responded.

Earlier, film star Humayun Saeed expressed keen interest in producing a film based on Arshad Nadeem's life story.

Mohsin Abbas Haider also indicated his willingness to portray Arshad Nadeem if a film about his life is ever made.

Nadeem's victory marks a watershed moment for Pakistani sports. 

The last time Pakistan stood on an Olympic podium was in 1992 when the hockey team clinched bronze at the Barcelona Olympics. Pakistan's first-ever Olympic gold medal was also won by the hockey team in 1984.
