Junaid Safdar and Shanzay to marry in January, confirms ex-MNA Rohale Asghar

Junaid Safdar, son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and grandson of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, is set to marry Shanzay, the granddaughter of former MNA Sheikh Rohale Asghar, next month.

The wedding has now been confirmed by Asghar, a former member of the National Assembly and a close political associate of Nawaz Sharif.

Speaking to journalist Shazia Zeeshan, Asghar confirmed that his granddaughter Shanzay is set to marry Junaid Safdar and shared details of the wedding events.

Asghar said that the families came closer through the friendship between Shanzay and Junaid’s sister, Mahnoor Safdar, who are often seen spending time at each other’s homes. He added that Shanzay also had frequent interactions with Maryam Nawaz, which led to the marriage proposal being conveyed to Shanzay’s father.

He said that the family welcomed the proposal and viewed the match as a blessing, adding that Nawaz Sharif later hosted the bride’s family, where the wedding dates were finalised.

Wedding events are scheduled for January 16, 17 and 18. A joint mehndi and the valima, hosted by the Sharif family, will take place at their Jati Umra residence, while the bride’s family will host a reception at Lahore’s Lake City Golf and Country Club.

This will be Junaid Safdar’s second marriage. He previously married Ayesha Saif Khan in 2021. The couple separated in 2023, with Junaid publicly announcing the divorce later that year.
