A female model and a photographer have been booked in Lahore for shooting a video on the premises of Masjid Wazir Khan.

The Akbari Gate police lodged an FIR against model Azbia Khan and photographer Zain Shah on the complaint of Mohammad Awais, an officer of the Walled City Lahore Authority (WCLA).

They have been accused of violating the sanctity of the mosque. The police took action after a video clip was uploaded on social media.

The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) official claimed that the model filmed the video in “inappropriate attire” without getting permission from the department.

He added that the clip, recorded about four days earlier, was later posted on social media, causing harm to the authority’s reputation and breaching the sanctity of the mosque.

This is not the first such controversy. In August 2020, police booked actor Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed after they were accused of disrespecting the Wazir Khan Mosque by recording a music video inside the premises.

The incident prompted the Punjab Auqaf and Religious Affairs Department to impose a ban on filming movies and dramas in mosques and shrines.
