A Parisian fashion house, named Coperni, has unveiled its new Air Swipe Bag in Paris Fashion Week 2024, which is made of 99 percent air and 1 percent NASA silica aerogel.
The fashion house made this bag in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), by using nanomaterial silica aerogel in the formation of the bag.
At first glance of purse looks like a frozen piece of trapped clouds, it seems extremely light. So who want to bring this purse may handle it with care given that it's 1 percent glass.
If the users put objects inside Coperni’s new Air Swipe Bags they might want to consider only bringing light essentials.
However, NASA describes aerogel as one of the lightest solid materials available on Earth. It is created by combining a polymer with a solvent, and this mixture forms a gel.
Aerogels are considered porous, low-density, and solid to the touch. These properties may have nudged Coperni to experiment with it for its new, cloud-like Air Swipe Bag since this translucent material gives the bag its transparent look, allowing the smoke inside to appear trapped and frozen.
Coperni’s Air Swipe Bag weighs only 33 grams, Nasa believes that the aerogel used in the purse is less fragile, so it doesn’t break apart.
