"People said it's against Shariat:" Salma Hassan on working with ex-husband Azfar Ali after divorce

Pakistani actress Salma Hassan has opened up about the criticism she faced for working with her ex-husband, Azfar Ali, in dramas after their divorce in 2012.

The Pyar Ke Sadqay actor recently appeared in a comedy program Hasna Mana Hai, where she discussed her personal life and her showbiz career.

During the interview, she revealed that some people had condemned her professional collaboration with Ali, calling it "against Shariat" (Islamic law). 

"I received some weird comments that I had acted against Shariat for working with my ex-husband after the divorce," the Very Filmy actor said.

"I don't understand what people were saying. If we can sit in one courtroom for our daughter's visitation rights, meet or talk in another place, why can't we work together?" she asked.

"We had to work with someone anyway, so what's the point?"

Salma was married to director, producer, and actor Azfar Ali, and the former couple has a daughter, named Fatima.

The actors got divorced in 2012, but even after that, the two were seen working together on screen.

In the interview, she also highlighted the importance of maintaining a good relationship with her ex-husband for the sake of their daughter.

"It was my wish that Fatima's relationship with Afzar always remained good and it is. It's very important to understand what's children's fault between the disagreement of the couple," she noted.

"You can set aside your differences for the sake of your children," Salma conculded.
