Veteran ghazal singer Tahira Syed has dismissed rumours circulating on social media claiming that she had passed away, assuring fans that she is alive and in good health.
In a video message shared on her Facebook account, Syed addressed the reports directly, saying the information being spread online was false.
“I have come to know that rumours are being spread about my health. I am absolutely fine, by the grace of God. I am living a really good life in New York. Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes,” she said.
The singer also issued a written statement in which she thanked supporters for their concern while urging the public not to share unverified information.
“I have come to learn that false reports of my passing are being circulated on social media. These are not true. Alhamdulillah, I am alive, well and in good health,” Syed wrote. She requested people to help correct the misinformation wherever it appeared.
The veteran artist said she was deeply moved by the concern and affection expressed by friends, family members and fans who contacted her after seeing the reports.
Several public figures also stepped in to counter the rumours. Fashion designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin shared a photograph of Syed on social media and confirmed that she was alive and healthy. Actor Bushra Ansari also reposted the singer’s video message to help clarify the situation.
False reports regarding the deaths of prominent personalities occasionally surface online. Similar incidents have involved Indian actor Dharmendra and Pakistani actor Sakina Samo, both of whom were incorrectly reported dead on social media before the claims were later disproved.
Syed’s statement has since reassured fans, bringing an end to speculation about her health and wellbeing.
