A Palestinian journalist, Muhammad Smiry, recently shared a post on the micro-blogging platform 'X,' revealing that children in Gaza are receiving toys designed to look like food.

The photo shared by Smiry shows toys resembling various food items wrapped in a package. Among them were fake chicken nuggets, milk packets, french fries, burgers, and ice cream.

In the caption, the Palestinian journalist lamented, "Instead of providing our children with actual food, the United Nations is offering them toys mimicking food."

Actress Ushna Shah expressed her displeasure and termed it a 'stupid joke.'

Sharing the journalist's post, she questioned its authenticity, stating, "Can someone verify this? And to add even more insult to injury this is made to look like a McDonald’s meal.”

As Gazans continue to suffer relentless onslaught by Israeli occupation forces, human rights organisations have yet to take action at the gross human rights violations occurring in the occupied territories of Palestine.

Social media users expressed their repulsion at the notion of gifting 'toy food' to the afflicted children of Gaza, who face starvation amid the escalating Israeli offensive.

Tragically, the most severely affected demographic in this ongoing Israeli genocide has been children.

More than 6,600 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza since October 7, as per the government's media office.

These young lives bear the brunt of horrifying traumas, having lost families, with the looming threat of infectious diseases and man-made famine exacerbating their plight.

Despite these dire circumstances, there is a glaring absence of effective action by those who claim to champion human rights.

On October 7, news emerged that Hamas had bulldozed the wall that imprisoned Gaza's 2.3 million population. Gaza, surrounded by Israel's apartheid wall, remains isolated from the rest of the world and faces a debilitating siege.
