Famous for his performances in the political satire show 'Hum Sub Umeed Se Hain,' the esteemed actor and journalist Shaukat Zaidi, 69, breathed his last in Lahore on Saturday. After a prolonged struggle with lung disease, he was laid to rest on Sunday.

Speaking to a local publication, Shaukat Zaidi's son revealed that Zaidi had been grappling with a prolonged health complication as his lungs ceased to function properly a long time ago.

He had been receiving treatment at a private hospital in Johar Town for the past month and was placed on a ventilator before his demise.

The funeral prayers for Zaidi took place at the Miyani Sahib graveyard, attended by actors Sohail Ahmed, Jawad Wasim, Parvez Raza, Aurangzeb Leghari, and Mujahid Abbas, along with director Qaiser Javed.

With a career spanning over four decades in the entertainment industry, Zaidi started his journey with theatre plays like "Jhoot Ke Paon" and "Fasaad Ki Jaar."

Having honed his craft, he ventured into writing and direction of a total of 15 plays.

His professional journey was marked by compelling portrayals in various dramas, notably in "Wafa Ka Mausam" and the political satire series "Hum Sub Umeed Se Hain," addressing public and political issues.

Furthermore, he authored a collection of poetry, which is yet to be published. Actor and anchor Sami Khan conveyed his condolences on Instagram.
