Waseem Abbas confirms divorce from Saba Hameed

Veteran Pakistani actor Waseem Abbas has confirmed for the first time that he and actress Saba Hameed ended their marriage several years ago, revealing that their 29-year marriage has also legally come to an end.

For many years, Waseem Abbas and Saba Hameed were regarded as one of Pakistan’s most respected and successful celebrity couples.

They earned widespread admiration not only for their performances on screen but also for what was widely perceived as a strong and enduring relationship. However, in a recent interview, Waseem Abbas disclosed that the couple had actually been living separately for the past 14 years.

According to the actor, although they had decided to part ways, they continued to maintain a cordial relationship. He said they continued working together on various projects after their separation and occasionally met as friends for meals.

He added that if they were offered another opportunity to work together in a drama, he would gladly accept, as he holds no bitterness or resentment toward Saba Hameed.

Speaking about the divorce, Waseem Abbas said he did not feel regret or sadness over the decision because, over time, the emotional bond that had sustained their marriage had faded. He also clarified that the couple did not have any children together.

The actor further shared that he has always maintained a positive relationship with Saba Hameed’s family. According to him, mutual respect has always been more important than love in his life, and he believes that ending the marriage respectfully was the right decision.

He emphasized that neither he nor Saba Hameed ever spoke negatively about each other in the media, adding that both had always prioritized preserving each other's dignity and respect.

Commenting on his second marriage, Waseem Abbas said he does not consider the decision entirely wrong because, at the time, it seemed like the right choice. However, looking back today, he feels it may have been a mistake, though he has no regrets about the marriage ending.

When asked about the possibility of marrying again, he made it clear that he has no such plans. He said he is now a grandfather, his children live with him, and his first wife also resides in the same household, making remarriage unnecessary in his view.

Following Waseem Abbas’s revelations, the news has sparked discussion across social media and Pakistan’s entertainment industry.

Many fans have praised both actors for handling their separation with dignity and for maintaining mutual respect despite their differences. Meanwhile, Saba Hameed has not yet issued any public statement regarding the matter.
