In a recent Instagram reel, famous designer Maria B endorsed the current boycott of Israeli products owing to its atrocious war crimes in the Gaza Strip.
In the video, Maria indulged in sampling burgers from various Pakistani food chains, trying a different local brand each day.
Expressing her positive experience with local products, Maria B urged her followers to join the cause by refraining from supporting international brands that contribute financially to Israel.
“If you want to help Palestinians, boycott these international fast-food brands. These brands have supported our enemies who kill our children in Palestine. I've tried a new Pakistani brand each day, and their burgers were delicious—quality, taste, everything—it's far better than the international junk food chains. Support Pakistani products, back our local industry, and our economy will improve. These companies that support our enemies will soon experience a taste of their own medicine," she said.
Known for her outspoken views on social issues, Maria B is consistently advocating for the liberation of Palestine from the decades-long Israeli occupation on social media.
The world-wide boycott campaign against Israeli brands and products was started by the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Various regions have experienced spontaneous grassroots boycott campaign in response to Israel's relentless genocide in the Gaza Strip.
Israel launched its deadly assault on Palestinians on October 7, when Palestinian resistance movement Hamas breached the ‘Iron Wall,’ a 40-mile-long barricade installed by Israeli government that isolated the Gaza Strip from the rest of the world
According to Reuters, Western brands are particularly are facing the brunt in Egypt and Jordan, and there are indications of the campaign spreading to other Arab countries like Kuwait and Morocco.
Despite targeted brands making efforts to defend themselves and retain business through special offers, the boycott campaigns have continued to gain traction, extending beyond the Arab world in some instances.
