Renowned singer Zeb Bangash has hinted that the upcoming season of Pakistan Idol will focus exclusively on Pakistani songs. The announcement has generated excitement among fans, who welcomed the emphasis on local music rather than Bollywood tracks.

The show, returning after a long hiatus, is set to hit Pakistani TV screens soon. Zeb Bangash responded to a fan on Instagram, agreeing that “Yes, only Pakistani songs for Pakistan Idol.”

Fans praised the move, noting that a national music competition should highlight local talent.

Pakistan’s music scene has gained global recognition in recent years, with several artists achieving international popularity. With Pakistan Idol 2025, the country’s talent is expected to receive even greater visibility on the world stage.

The auditions reached Lahore, where young music enthusiasts are eager to showcase their skills at Alhamra Cultural Complex near Gaddafi Stadium.

The show will be hosted by stand-up comedian and actor Shafaat Ali, with a panel of judges including Fawad Khan, Zeb Bangash, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and Bilal Maqsood of the band Strings.

Production company MH Global has acquired the rights from Fremantle and announced a unique multi-platform broadcasting strategy, airing the show simultaneously on five TV networks for the first time in the global Idol franchise.

According to Zoya Merchant, Director at MH Global, this partnership with Fremantle is a milestone for Pakistan’s creative industries, describing Pakistan Idol as “not just a show, but a cultural movement.”

The first season of Pakistan Idol aired in December 2013, concluding in April 2014 with Lahore-based singer Zamad Baig winning the title.
