LAHORE: A woman residing at the flood relief camp in Mohlanwal gave birth to a baby boy.

The mother, Yasmeen, who had been staying at the camp set up by the Central Muslim League for flood-affected families, delivered her baby under the supervision of a qualified lady doctor.

The birth brought immense joy to the father, grandmother, and relatives, while the entire camp celebrated the arrival of the newborn.

Philanthropists also came forward, presenting gifts and cash to share in the family’s happiness.

According to the parents, this is their eighth child. Doctors confirmed that both mother and baby are healthy.

However, flood victims continue to suffer under the open sky without proper facilities.

In Lahore’s Chuhng area, children and adults are developing skin diseases and other illnesses due to poor conditions.

Mothers complained that there is no milk available for children; in desperation, they are feeding them water in empty feeders, leading to vomiting and severe weakness.

At one relief camp in Chuhng, the eyes of a two-month-old infant began bleeding, while women themselves are battling skin infections.

The affected families said there is no adherence to basic hygiene standards, and medicines are proving ineffective, leaving them helpless about what to do next.
