Kuwait has approved a defence cooperation agreement with Pakistan through a decree-law, formalising a framework for military and security collaboration between the two countries.

The decree, published in the latest issue of the official gazette Kuwait Alyawm, ratifies the agreement signed in Kuwait on June 11, 2023.

Under the agreement, both countries will strengthen defence ties through cooperation in military training, education and armed forces collaboration, in accordance with their respective laws and international obligations.

The framework covers military training and education, logistical cooperation, the exchange of military personnel, technical experts and specialists, scientific and technological cooperation, military intelligence, and other areas agreed by both sides.

Pakistan and Kuwait will implement the agreement through annual executive protocols and programmes, while also enhancing cooperation through exchanges of official visits at different levels.

A joint military committee, headed by representatives appointed by the defence ministers of both countries, will oversee implementation of the agreement and meet annually to review progress.
