In a recent security scare along the India-Pakistan border, a plane-shaped balloon from Pakistan landed in the Indian state of Rajasthan, triggering immediate response from local authorities.
The balloon, which closely resembled a Pakistan International Airlines aircraft and was prominently marked in green and white, was discovered in the Bikaner region, sparking concerns among residents who quickly alerted police and border security forces.
Villagers, who first spotted the balloon, about 2ft in length, reported it to police and BSF.
As per their preliminary probe the toy-like balloon did not carry any device or equipment typically associated with espionage.
Despite its harmless nature, the incident marks the third balloon-related event from Pakistan within just 35 days, highlighting ongoing security concerns along the border.
Earlier in May 2020, Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) claimed to have captured another "Pakistani spy pigeon" and handed it over to police in occupied Kashmir. A Pakistani villager later said he was the owner of the pigeon and refuted the allegation of it being "a spy or a terrorist".
