2-year-old girl killed during robbery bid in Karachi

A 2-year-old girl, named Hoorain, was killed by dacoits during a robbery bid in the Korangi area of Karachi on Friday night, confirmed police.

According to the police, the heartwrenching incident happened when dacoits opened fire while robbing a motorbike from Hoorain's father.

The deceased's uncle said the bandits tried to snatch a motorbike from his bother at the doorstep of his house, upon showing some resistance the suspects opened fire.

The robbers shot two bullets, one of which caused the death of Hoorain while another hit her aunt.

However, the police have registered a case and started a probe into the incident.

In a separate incident at Karachi’s Banaras, robbers shot two brothers during a robbery resistance.

One of the brothers died on the spot, while another succumbed to his injuries at a hospital, police said.

There is no respite from the growing menace of street crime in Karachi as the statistics issued by the Central Police Liaisons Committee (CPLC) showed over 850 mobile phones were snatched and stolen, over 5,000 motorbikes were robbed and at least 180 four-wheels were snatched in the month of January.
