The Directorate of Passports and Immigration has released its annual performance report for the year 2025.
Under the directives of the Prime Minister and the Interior Minister, 2025 proved to be a year of transformative reforms led by the DG of Passports.
The report highlights that the installation of state-of-the-art printers effectively eliminated the passport backlog once and for all.
For the convenience of citizens, a 24/7 passport processing and delivery service was launched for the first time in history.
Renovations of the Passport Headquarters and other offices were completed, while overseas Pakistanis were provided with a One-Window Service at Pakistani embassies in various countries.
Additionally, a new series of modern e-passports with enhanced security features was introduced, and more passport offices and counters were established to facilitate citizens.
Over the course of the year, a total of 5,572,013 citizens were issued passports. Within this, 3,275,263 passports were issued under the normal category, 1,839,487 under the urgent category, and 276,789 under the fast-track service.
The report also notes a significant increase in the uptake of modern e-passports during 2025.
