50kg explosives seized in a major terror attempt in Kohat

Security forces managed to stop a major terror attempt in Kohat after intercepting a vehicle filled with explosives before it could reach its target destination.

According to police reports, security officials recovered more than 50 kgs of explosives fitted with a detonator from a truck during an intelligence-led operation. 

The vehicle was taken in custody and the Bomb Disposal Squad successfully defused the device using specialized equipment, preventing a potentially devastating attack that could have caused large-scale casualties.

DPO Shehbaz Elahi reached the scene shortly after the interception and ordered high security across the district, increasing surveillance at entry and exit points of the city to ensure public safety.

Meanwhile, police, army and other law-enforcement agencies cleared and sealed the area and conducted a search operation to eliminate any further threats and gather evidence linked to the plot. 

Officials later confirmed that the search operation had been completed and the situation is fully under control.
