A recent survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan has shed light on the dynamics of marriage matches in the country.

The survey found that almost 58 percent Pakistanis credited their family members with playing the most important role in suggesting relationships for marriage.

The survey revealed that family members, including parents and siblings, were the primary source of relationship advice.

In the survey, relatives (26%) and friends (16%) followed suit, while a mere 7 percent sought the help of professionals.

Interestingly, 11 percent women respondents reported seeking help of professionals, while only 4 percent men sought help from matrimonial services.

The survey also highlighted regional differences in seeking relationship advice.

In both urban and rural areas, family members were the most influential, with 27 percent of the rural population and 23 percent of the urban population prioritising their suggestions.

Notably, the urban population was 4 percent more likely to seek help from friends compared to rural people.

The survey also found that 30 percent Pakistanis reported seeing advertisements in newspapers for relationships, while 25 percent were aware of relationship mobile apps and websites.

The findings underscore the significant role family plays in marriage matches in Pakistan with a majority relying on their loved ones for guidance.
