The superintendent of Adiala Central Jail has issued a detailed statement listing the facilities being provided to incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in prison.
He said that the ex-premier is receiving all facilities entitled under B-class, which are more than those granted to any other inmate.
According to the statement, Imran is being kept in a separate complex spread over seven cells within the jail, equipped with a private courtyard, space for walking and exercise, an exercise bike, LED TV, newspapers, and books of his choice.
He has also been provided a designated inmate-cook to prepare his meals according to his preferences, a facility not extended to other B-class prisoners.
The jail authorities explained that all facilities are being provided in accordance with prison rules and regulations, and that there is no discriminatory treatment toward the former prime minister.
The superintendent further revealed that since August 2024, Imran Khan had 413 messages shared on the social media platform X from jail, through which he has guided party leaders on political activities, elections, negotiations with the government, and constitutional amendments. These statements have made headlines in the national media 145 times, he added.
The statement also highlighted that Imran Khan has remained in contact with at least 10 international media outlets, including Reuters, Fox News, ITV, and The Wall Street Journal.
He has frequently addressed journalists directly during court hearings held inside the prison.
Over the past three months, 66 people, including family members, legal counsel, and political associates, have been allowed to visit him, the jail official said. Jail doctors have been assigned to conduct health check-ups three times daily, and his health has been declared satisfactory over the past two weeks.
The Adiala Jail administration rejected claims circulating on social media and by certain political quarters alleging that Imran Khan is being denied basic prison amenities. These, the statement said, are baseless, misleading, and aimed at generating sensationalism for political gain.
