Federal Planning and Development Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal's mobile phone was stolen from his pocket while he was attending the funeral procession in Punjab's Sheikhupura, according to sources.
Sources said that the federal minister attended the funeral prayers of Punjab Assembly lawmaker Rana Afzaal Hussain on Monday.
Mr Iqbal was among the many dignitaries who attended the funeral prayer to pay their respects to the late MPA.
According to police officials, the theft occurred when someone took advantage of the crowded gathering and removed the phone from the PML-N stalwart's pocket.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are making efforts to trace the stolen mobile phone.
"We are working to recover Ahsan Iqbal's phone and identify the culprit," said a police spokesperson.
It's pertinent to mention here that PML-N leader Rana Afzaal Hussain passed away a day earlier due to a heart attack.
